Cardiac Rehabilitation Instructor Penny has recently ascended the three peaks in the aid of heart patients in Sussex.
Penny started with Ben Nevis on Sunday 20th September, Scafell Pike on 22nd and then Snowdon on 24th.
Penny said:
“We have all had different challenges this year with the covid and there have been some positives such as more people working from home, less stress from the commute and more time with families etc. Staying safe, wearing masks and social distancing continues to be stressful. We all have worked hard to stay positive in the circumstances and that can be quite a challenge!”
“Mindfulness has been the buzz word this year, a kind of coping strategy through this pandemic. We all have different ways to be mindful and it could be something as simple as appreciating your food or just sitting next to a stream listening to the water flowing. Whatever works for you. All very good for reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and increasing sense of wellbeing. I simply cannot wait to enjoy a bit of escapism while raising much needed funds for Sussex Heart Charity!”
Since conquering the peaks, Penny and her friends have raised more than £1,260! We are currently funding alternative and innovative methods for patients to benefit from Cardiac Rehabilitation during the covid pandemic. These funds will bolster our activities and help us support cardiac departments as best we can.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and special thanks to Penny and the girls for thinking of us.
Still chuffed with her achievements, Penny said:
“We had snow while attempting Snowdon! Weird weather with warm sunshine too! On reflection. We had all kinds of weather thrown at us and we made it to all 3 peaks without any major drama! Immensely proud of the 4 of us working together to achieve this!! Most importantly, we are raising much needed funds for the Heart Manuals that Sussex Heart Charity have been giving out to patients who cannot attend the hospital Phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation classes (due to covid). For those who are comfortable with technology, they may benefit from joining Penny’s Phase 4 online classes via zoom.”
