Here at The Sussex Heart Charity, we love anything which brings local communities together. We were recently approached by Ray Gower who organises the annual Boxing Day Denmans Lane Dash in Lindfield, West Sussex.
The event, which was started in 2015, sees villagers dashing from The Stand Up Inn, along Denmans Lane and back, half pints in hand. The winner is the person finishing in the top six with the most beer left in the glass.

“Back in March this year, due to family history, I underwent several tests to determine whether I had the same ischemic heart disease that had taken my Dad 12 years ago and resulted in my older brother having a minor heart attack which required a quadruple heart bypass. Regrettably, I discovered that I would need major heart surgery and had a triple heart bypass as a preventative measure back in June. I had my operation at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and the Cardiac Rehab team at the Princess Royal got me back on my feet. I have nothing but admiration for everyone involved who took care of me.
I wanted to give back something to these wonderful people so the Sussex Heart Charity who do a wonderful job supporting these two fantastic cardiac departments.”
The Sussex Heart Charity would like to thank Ray for thinking of us, everyone who attended and everyone who contributed to raising vital funds.
