We joined forces with Lancing Parish Council and the Lancing & Sompting Lions Club to fund two new public access defibrillators for Lancing.
The two potentially life-saving machines are now available 24/7 outside Lancing Parish Hall in South Street and the Lions’ Hall in Roberts Road as part of a public appeal, launched by the Chairman of Adur District Council, Cllr Joss Loader.
Lancing Parish Council (LPC) donated £1,000 towards to the project, with the remainder of the purchase and installation costs being picked up by The Lions. The defibrillators were match-funded by us and installed by P & H Electrical Solutions ltd at minimal cost.
LPC Chair, Cllr Gloria Eveleigh, said:
“The Parish Council started talking about this initiative a year ago and approached the Lions to form a partnership. The defibrillators have been a long time coming but now we hope that they will be effective in saving lives in Lancing.”
Lions’ President, Janette Ward, added:
“We had been talking about having a defibrillator in our hall when we were approached by Lancing Parish Council and took on the project as part of our work in the community. This fitted nicely with Cllr Joss Loader’s project as the Chairman of Adur District Council. We hope to assist with the provision of more defibrillators in the future. It is an ongoing project.”
The installation of these two machines brings the number of defibrillators installed to nine across Adur as part of Joss Loader’s appeal, which she started in her role as Chair of Shoreham Beach Residents’ Association. Of these, three are on Shoreham Beach, two are in Shoreham town centre, three are south of the A27 in Lancing and one is outside Fircroft News in North Lancing. A 10th will be unveiled very shortly at another North Lancing site.
