Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC) requested support from the Sussex Heart Charity (SHC) to procure an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They had recently relocated to new premises at the Fitzherbert Centre in Kemptown. Currently over 400 people per week use the club facilities and they continue to see a steady increase in the number of people playing table tennis as a form of exercise and/or as a social activity. The Centre is also used by other organisations for activities such as training, bicycle workshops, award ceremonies and social events.
The AED is located on an external cabinet on the outside of Brighton Table Tennis Club in Upper Bedford Street in Kemptown, Brighton. This will allow for the wider community in the area to potentially benefit from the AED and will provide 24 hour access.
The area is a densely populated mix of residential housing, shops and small businesses. The location is on a junction that serves as a thoroughfare for people using the shops and businesses in the area. It is also well placed for easy access from Eastern Road and the seafront. The location offers good visibility and accessibility of the AED to the residents and visitors in Kemptown.
