Mike Kerley is Foreshore Inspector at Worthing Beach Front office and also trainer for Resolve Security and Brighton Beach Patrol said:
“This Patrol service operates on an all-terrain quad bike in Brighton covering from the hours of 2300 – 0500 on a Friday and Saturday night and other days where there is a risk of harm, i.e. large events or special occasions. It is operated by a trained security guard / first aider who is also trained at spotting those at risk.
The main purpose of this service is to protect those that find themselves in a vulnerable position on the seafront, either through intoxication or mental health. The main aim is education and protecting those at risk of harm. This is currently a self-funding service, however we are working very closely with other agencies and charities to improve and extend our work as it has been a great success. We are regularly responding to persons in the water, first aid calls, ranging from assaults or unconsciousness.”
