The Sussex Heart Charity was very proud to attend the Sussex Cardiac Centre Surgical Unit for the unveiling of the commemorative plaques in memory of the late Mr Andy Forsyth – Cardiac Surgeon and former Chairman of The Sussex Heart Charity.
Andy set up Brighton’s Cardiac Surgery Unit in 1999. His vision was to provide a local service for local patients. During his career, he transformed the lives of the people of Sussex through his surgical skills and was a pioneer of improving patient outcomes through data collection. He laid the foundations for the expansion of the unit into a centre of excellence and will be remembered as the father of the Sussex Cardiac Centre.
Andy was a devoted supporter of our work and for many years was the Chairman of the charity. His friendly personality, vast knowledge and experience were essential for enabling us to develop many ground-breaking procedures and partnerships with the Sussex Cardiac Centre.
His legacy will live on for many years and will help us to continue our work in enhancing the care and treatment for heart patients in Sussex.
