How can I help?
How you can help? There are several ways in which you can help us;
1. Making a donation
Make a one-off donation, make a secure donation online now using your credit or debit card. Your gift today will make a difference to the lives of sick children for generations to come.
Arrange donation in memory of your loved one Memorial donations can be a meaningful and lasting way to keep the memory of a loved one alive. Asking friends and family to donate to the Sussex Heart Charity means your loved one's memory will live on, not only in the hearts of those who knew them, but in the hearts of all the cardiac patients who benefit from your kindness. Many funeral directors will be able to arrange a collection for you and forward the donations directly to us here. When all of your gifts have been received we will inform you of the donors and the total raised in memory of your loved one.
2. GIFT AID
What is Gift Aid and how does it help?
Make your donation worth a quarter more with Gift Aid Declaration – enabling us to claim tax back from the government.
Gift Aid is a government scheme which enables registered charities in the United Kingdom to claim the tax back from the Inland Revenue on donations.
How it works
If you are currently a UK taxpayer, and you fill out a Gift Aid Declaration when you make a donation we can claim back 25p for every £1 that you donate.
Once you have signed your Gift Aid Declaration it is valid for all gifts in the future and for any gifts you have made to us in the six years prior to signing the Declaration.
In detail
You can make a Gift Aid Declaration in respect of one or all donations made to the Sussex Heart Charity in the past six years, and the Declaration can last indefinitely.
The Declaration will be effective as long as you pay United Kingdom income and/or capital gains tax equal to or greater than the tax paid on your donation.
The Sussex Heart Charity will claim back tax at the basic rate, so if you are a higher rate taxpayer you can claim further tax relief on your Self-Assessment form. You can make a Declaration and join the scheme by post or by email or you can call 01273 523026 to make a Declaration. You are able to cancel at any time after that, should your circumstances change.
You must keep the charity informed of changes in your tax status and changes of name and/or address.
For further information on your eligibility please go to HMRC's full guidelines here.
3. Events
Attending events
Organising an event is often time consuming and can be expensive, but it is a good way of advertising our charity and of course a way of raising funds. But for an event to be successful we need people to attend, and to circulate information about our events to family and friends.
Helping at events
We organise several events each year, such as bike rides, walks and jogs. Most of them are outdoor and usually at weekends and volunteers are essential to helping making the day a success! Activities are varied, and include registering participants, marshalling and giving out refreshments. You will be asked to give between 4 and 8 hours on the day. There’s a great team atmosphere and huge appreciation from event participants and organisers for your work.
