Community Resuscitation Training
“The most important person when a victim’s heart stops is the person who witnesses the event. If this person immediately starts resuscitation procedures, then the victim will have the best possible chance of survival. YOU could be that important person, and YOU (in the absence of a healthcare professional) are more important than paramedics or hospital staff in such a life-threatening situation.”
Welcome to the community resuscitation section of the website

The community resuscitation programme was created in 1978 and is the brainchild of Professor Douglas Chamberlain. At the time, Douglas Chamberlain was a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, and his community resuscitation programme was the first in the UK.
The community resuscitation programme offers training in:
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING
- EXTENDED EMERGENCY LIFE SUPPORT
- AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATION
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT + THE RECOGNITION AND TREATMENT OF ANAPHYLAXIS
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT + AIRWAY MANAGEMENT + USE OF OXYGEN
All courses can be tailored to individual needs, and the course content is in line with guidelines published by the Resuscitation Council (UK) whose website is http://www.resus.org.uk
We should all learn how to save a life:

70% of people performing life support are trying to save the life of a friend or relative.
"The most important person when a victim’s heart stops is the person who witnesses the event, not the doctors, hospital consultants, nurses or paramedics.
If the witness does not immediately start and maintain emergency life support the victim will definitely die, regardless of how excellent the eventual treatment given by the medical professionals.
Remember you could be that important person"
